Our Mission

Empowering Anime & Manga Artists

Building the world's most accessible reference platform for learning and mastering anime face drawing.

Who We Are

AnimeFaceLab was created by passionate artists and developers who recognized a major gap in digital art education: while generic drawing blogs exist everywhere, finding structured, distraction-free guides specifically tailored to anime face drawing was frustratingly difficult.

We built AnimeFaceLab from the ground up as a modern Multi-Page Application (MPA) designed for speed, clarity, and deep learning. No popup ads, no paywalls, and no cluttered layouts.

About the AnimeFaceLab Art Team

Every tutorial and reference on this site is written and reviewed by practicing illustrators who draw anime and manga characters professionally. Our team has backgrounds in character design, illustration, and sequential art, and we test every technique on this site in our own practice before publishing it.

We intentionally keep the site focused on one subject — the anime face — so we can go deeper than a general art blog. That single-topic depth is why our construction guides, proportion rules, and reference library work as a coherent system rather than a collection of loose tips.

Meet the Authors

AnimeFaceLab is created and maintained by a small team of anime illustrators who prefer to work behind the scenes. Each author is identified here by an alias to keep the focus on the art rather than individual personalities. Every author is an experienced anime illustrator with many years of professional practice.

Alpha Artist

Lead Illustrator

Anime veteran with extensive professional experience in manga illustration and character design.

Alpha Artist specializes in anime face construction, dynamic angles, and anatomy systems. His tutorials focus on the construction methods used in professional manga and anime production, adapted for self-taught and intermediate artists.

Beta Artist

Expression & Character Design Consultant

Experienced anime illustrator with a strong background in expressions, character design, and facial anatomy.

Beta Artist brings years of practical illustration experience to anime face design, with deep expertise in expressions, eye styles, and how proportion shifts across character types. She maintains and reviews the reference systems used throughout AnimeFaceLab.

Gamma Artist

Technical Illustrator & Tool Builder

Longtime digital illustrator with experience building drawing tools and translating traditional art theory into digital workflows.

Gamma Artist built AnimeFaceLab's interactive practice tools and wrote the shading, lighting, and hair-flow tutorials. Drawing on years of digital illustration experience, they focus on turning traditional drawing theory into clear, step-by-step systems that work in everyday art practice.

Editorial Standards

  • Original content: All tutorials, reference guides, and practice plans are written by our own team. We never scrape or auto-generate articles.
  • Expert-reviewed: Content is reviewed by experienced illustrators for drawing accuracy before it is published.
  • Practical before promotional: Content is written to teach drawing, not to rank. If a section does not help you draw better, we cut it.
  • Regularly updated: Tutorials are revisited and updated as our technique evolves, and update dates are shown on each article.
  • Free and honest: Everything is free to use. We never hide technique behind paywalls or fake urgency.

Our Core Principles

  • 100% Free & Open: All tutorials, references, and tools remain free for every artist worldwide.
  • Distraction-Free: Zero ad banners or popup overlays to interrupt your practice sessions.
  • Structured Learning: Progressive lessons designed to take you from basic shapes to advanced character designs.
